Safety Tips
LESSON 1: HOW TO USE SEATBELT
Seatbelts help restrain the occupant in the event of a collision.
STEP 1: Move the seat upright to find your most comfortable position.
STEP 2: Adjust your headrest. Make sure it’s slightly higher than your ears to avoid whiplash injury.
STEP 3: Lock the seatbelt and adjust the belt anchor to avoid the shoulder belt resting against your neck.
LESSON 2: HOW AIRBAGS WORK
Airbags cushion the impact on the occupant’s face and head during a collision.
Airbags deploy at the moment of impact.
About 0.1 second after impact, the seatbelts and the airbags protect the occupants.
The airbags deflate soon after deyployment.
LESSON 3: SEATBELT AND AIRBAG DYNAMICS
The way Toyota developed the airbag deployment ensures your utmost safety.
With the seatbelt on, the occupant is protected by both the seatbelt and the airbag.
Even with an airbag, not wearing a seatbelt heightens the risk of serious whiplash injury.
Without a seatbelt, the occupant is forcefully thrown into the windshield.
